Sad times. Ran out of time and money and decided to follow a different path with a better template.
So if you want any parts. Drop me a message

RainyMood.com
Found this on a friends tumblr: ShannonEmilyLove and absolutely loving it.
So chilled out. Didn't fancy any music on while I was at my desk, but hate silence!

Oh and sorry it's not car related, so for the course a generic picture...

Slow Progress
So work has been going slow lately. Really need to step the pace up again. It's getting to the point now where most of the major stuff is all stripped off and i'm (need to start) refurbing parts ready to be put back together.
The only problem is, I hate body work and cleaning parts! Love painting, hate the prep! Same old story... so the motivation has been lacking.
So far though, the engine bay is starting to look a lot less cluttered and more manageable to work on.
So i've fitted the new BMC. Finally got the right one delivered and got my money back from the wrong one!!
Turns out the old BMC that i've removed had been fully rebuilt as well! All new internals, filter and outer cap - so that's for sale ;)
Next on the list was the old intercooler. I didn't plan on replacing this right away, but got offered the Norris one cheap so couldn't resist. So, i've stripped out all the old intercooler piping, the intercooler itself with all it's attachments (dropped out nicely all in one unit). That was all a lot easier than I expected to. Probably only took about 20mins from start to finish.
Whipped off the turbo heat shield as well to cause I was bored! Wanted to have a peek underneath too and a look at the turbo. Look for any tell tail signs of leaks or cracks etc.. All looked ok! Doesn't say much but i'm happy with that for now!
Other than that, found a load more surface rust... nothing fatal looking, just need to get aggressive with removing it all and prepping to paint. I don't want to have to strip the whole engine bay for paint, rather just treat a few areas, but we'll see how that goes once I start digging!
Last but not least... a concern! BALL JOINTS. I f***ing hate these little bar stewards. The main BJ's (giggidy) on the lower control arms will not budge for love nor money! I've just chewed the rubber housing to sh*t so they won't lost long now! Going to take the hub/lower control arms to a garage and have them pressed out ready for either sand blasting or just grinding clean ready for a fresh coat of paint.
The track rod ends however.... are starting to resemble something found on time team!
Cue angle grinder with a rust remover! Failing that looks like I may have to buy some new ones!

New and old. Much larger bore on the rear one! |
The new larger bore BM57 fitted and plugged in :D |
Stock IC setup all out in one piece. Good condition minus the rusty brackets! |
Manifold with a couple snapped off bolts! Oops :D |

No more hidden side mounted IC - Little bit of surface rust as well. Again nothing major |
Original IC pipe hole... bit of rust. Just gonna cut it all out! |

Here's one I dug up earlier! |

Boxes and Bits!
So... always being the optimist, I bought a brake master cylinder off some guy on the DriftWorks Forum who didn't seem to have very good feedback on his page and all seemed a bit suspect! However the price was right and there aren't many of these little BM-57 cookies going around, so I jumped on it.
About a week later, I collected said Z32 BMC and would you know it.... it wasn't the right one! BAS*@$%?!
Still trying to get my money back on that one but i'm not holding my breathe!!
SuperCarParts came to the rescue though with an actual 300zx BMC so snapped that up straight away
Another purchase was the Norris Designs FMIC... that turned up in good time (Was the correct item as well :D )! Couple dings on it that you can just about make out. Looks like it's been shunted by a curb on the underside and pushed up, but the core is peachy, no cracks that I can see (soon find out on boost test!)
So the plan next week:
- Fit the starter motor (that I bought ages ago and has just been laying on the floor of my garage doing sweet f.a.). Now i've got better access to the transmission tunnel after taking the intake and bits off i'll bolt that on and get it hooked up.
- Start cutting out the battery tray to make way for the FMIC and get that all mocked up for fitment (as best as without the intake on!)
- Fit the BMC.
- Continue trying to get my money back for the other BMC!
Busy week!

Hold Fast
So... I've done exactly ZERO work on the car this week. Oops.
But I have been busy. Just started a new job at Palmer Sport instructing, so had my training day on thursday.
Wet, on slicks, in Caterhams... what a great way to get thrown into the deep end!
Loved it though. Had a great time and all the staff their are really nice, so hopefully that will prove to be a nice income. More track time, even in the passenger seat, is never a bad thing either.
Beginning of the week was a normal one, supercar instruction at Everyman. Then a chilled out wednesday doing more research and ordering parts.
So the new purchase this week is a used (but hopefully in good condition) Norris Designs FMIC with all the bits and bobs to bolt it straight on as well as a Forge dump valve to add to the mix.
Hopefully that will all be here tomorrow or some time this week and I can start making some progress again!!
On the progress note, I still need to find somewhere to shot blast my control arms and maybe a few other parts! Wire brushing is just too painstaking and not doing much either! I think it's time to start putting things back together!!

Engine Bits and Shopping Spree
So more work, finally after a few days at work and being pre-occupied and i've finally got the b***ard fuel injectors out after plenty of swearing and punching the engine bay due to tight bolts!
Also took the intake plenum out while I was at it and cleaned up the thermostat housing.
What else has been done.... erm! Spark plugs out. All the coil packs looks good visually but i'll check them at a later date. Also taken the old throttle body off which i'll replace with one I rebuilt a little while ago and using the cleaned and repainted intake plenum from my pile of ca18det bits!
So the shopping list. So far i've bought:
• Injector Cleaning Service
- £56
• BNR32 Rear Brake Calipers from a GTR (with good pads and all it's bits!)
- £110
• Z32 BN57 Brake Master Cylinder
- £45
• Caliper Refurbishment Service (for my s14 Sumitomo 4 pot Calipers)
- £130ish (tba)
• Various cans of primer and paint
- £20ish
• Paint & Rust remover (angle grinder attachment)
- £7.99
• Wire Brush
- £3.99
Stuff To Purchse:
• Uprated Clutch
- £199
• Lightweight Flywheel
- £250
• Solid Steering Bush
- £17.22
• Poly Subframe Bushes
- £66.38
...the list goes on, but you get the idea!
Oh yea, and I found the remains of another field mouse (yes another, there was a dead one in the boot when i first bought the car)! This time trapped in between the intake plenum and manifold!

That would be the fluffy corpse of a field mouse! |
Cleaned up Thermostat housing |
The engine bay starting to look a little sparse! Still far too much junk in there that just isn't needed though! |

Progress Update
Ok, so i've already started stripping the car down to refurbish or upgrade any areas that need it. So the car is currently sat on some axle stands as the front suspension is now broken down ready to be blasted and painted.
All the bushes were in great condition so i'm going to leave them for now and just buy rose jointed arms further down the line! :)
After seeing the state of the anti roll bar links, I may be buying a new set of those as well as track rod ends.
I've also managed to strip out the crappy old ABS pump as well as all the stock hard lines, brackets and anything associated (minus the wiring... that will go later) and got rid of the stock air box.
I've taken the rear bumper, interior panels, rear light garnish (metal plate under the tail lights) and carpet out of the back to allow me to work on a few areas, find hidden rust - which there isn't much off... just needs a bloody good clean and a fresh top coat of pain.
I'll be uprating the fuel pump as well so i'll lift that out soon while the back is stripped.
That's it for now, so just a few pics to see what it's looking like, then back to working on it on friday...

Gotta love Asbestos! :/ |
The pile of left overs after yesterdays stripping! |
Engine bay starting to look a bit cleaner with the ABS and air box gone. |
Funky hidden Jap embossing! |
WHEELIE :D |
